Ohio has a Jane Austen costume exhibit opening this summer — and a complementary exhibit starts tomorrow in England.
"Jane Austen Undressed" opens Saturday and runs through October 2 at Jane Austen’s House in Chawton, Hampshire.
The displays mostly focus on what would've been underneath Regency dresses, but the Guardian expects a main draw to be an undershirt.
Not just any undershirt, though — the one Colin Firth wore in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice when he, playing Mr. Darcy, emerged from a lake and bumped into Jennifer Ehle’s Elizabeth Bennet.
Exhibit curator Sophie Reynolds shared her thoughts on the reaction to that scene and the adaptation with the Guardian.
