Book adaptation projects sometimes stall out in the idea phase.

But that won't be the case for Charles Yu's National Book Award-winning novel, Interior Chinatown.

Variety reports that Hulu has ordered ten episodes of a series based on the book, following up on its October 2020 revelation that a series was in development.

Jimmy O. Yang will play Willis Wu, the ordinary man who goes from bit player in a procedural cop show to accidental genealogist, discovering the secrets of his own family and Chinatown itself.

Taiki Waititi will direct the pilot and serve as one of the executive producers, and Yu himself will serve as showrunner and executive producer.
