The late writer Octavia E. Butler's hometown will soon boast another independent bookstore ... with her name on it, no less.

LAist reports that Octavia's Bookshelf in Pasadena, California, is set to open mid-to-late February.

As would be fitting for a store named after one of the first sci-fi authors to feature back characters, Octavia's Bookshelf will highlight writers of color.

But its name also pays homage to Butler in another way, says owner Nikki High.

"I also like to think that we all have an Octavia in our lives — someone who is before their time, a wordsmith," she told LAist. "And I just thought it was a neat way to honor all of the Octavias in our life."
