Author Meena Kandasamy recently completed a new translation of one portion of the Thirukkural — an ancient collection of verses in Tamil.
That third book is known as The Book of Desire, and so it certainly got her thinking about how many of us turn to poetry or song to express romantic feelings.
Kandasamy lists her own personal top ten love poems (including, yes, one from The Book of Desire) for the Guardian.
