A judge has set a trial date for the man charged with assaulting author Salman Rushdie for January 8.

And as it stands right now, Rushdie is in fact expected to testify.

The Guardian reports that a district attorney in the case said the author is "on the people’s witness list right now heading into trial."

Last year, Hadi Matar pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and assault in the August 2022 stabbing.
