George Saunders is the latest big-name writer to join Substack, the increasingly popular email newsletter service.

But unlike Salman Rushdie, he won’t be serializing a novel.

Instead, reports Literary Hub, he’ll be taking more of the Chuck Palahniuk approach: craft lectures, writing exercises, prompts, and his own personal writing.

The Lincoln in the Bardo author’s Story Club will also host Q&As with subscribers about craft and the writing life.

Saunders told Lit Hub that he was open to the Substack pitch given how much insightful fan feedback he received over the course of 2021.

Lit Hub has plenty more on Saunders’s vision for the Story Club newsletter.
