On this day in 1818, Mary Shelley's now-classic novel Frankenstein was published.
Her husband, Percy Bysshe Shelley, had (correctly) anticipated that critical acceptance of a novel by a woman would be ... lacking.
And so he wrote a glowing review, in advance, of Frankenstein, though it unfortunately wasn't published until 1832 (thank you to Literary Hub for sharing it).
