Novelists looking to strengthen their storytelling may want to consider studying screenwriting as well.

That’s the suggestion of Jeff Vande Zande, who teaches both fiction writing and introductory screenwriting at Delta College in Michigan.

Over at The Millions, he uses Star Wars: A New Hope as an example of strong screenwriting that also highlights how strict attention to plot can improve a novel.
