If simply aspiring to write every day isn’t quite enough to keep your creative muscles in shape, Writer’s Digest has some suggestions.

Jennifer Haupt asked four successful authors about the daily writing habits that help them stay motivated and moving on their works in progress.

They responded with:

1. Set some rules about being online — and enforce them!

2. Make your work in progress a priority.

3. Structure your story.

4. Give yourself time.

The authors provide guidance on how to form those habits on the WD website.
