Designing a cover isn’t easy — hence why we recommend that authors hire a professional.

That isn’t to say that the professionals don’t have to work hard, though.

Janet Hansen, senior designer at Alfred A. Knopf, certainly put in some time on Nico Walker’s debut novel, Cherry.
