Protect yourself by asking publishing companies these questions

Derek Haines, founder of the website Just Publishing Advice, frequently receives the question: “Is [insert name of publisher] legitimate?”

In a way, he says, that’s the wrong question to ask. The company is most likely operating legally, meaning it’s technically legitimate.

So a better question to ask is: “Is [insert name of publisher] trying to rip me off?”
