Mailchimp users have a new way to measure how effective their newsletters are.

Hong Qu, director of technology at the Shorenstein Center, wrote about the features of the email benchmarking tool he and his colleagues have developed.

With little effort on your part, the tool will generate a report on six key metrics, including the distribution of your open rates, the percentage of your list that opens 80 percent of the time or more, and the percentage of your list that hasn’t opened in the past year.

You’ll see how well you’re doing in addition to how you compare to others who have provided this information.
