None of you authors have to be told “don’t plagiarize.”
But what other lessons are there to be learned from the Cristiane Serruya debacle?
Kristine Kathryn Rusch offers takeaways about contracts and ghostwriters, particularly for indie authors, in a new blog post.
The latest tally, as Rusch wrote her post, is that Serruya has plagiarized thirty-five books, twenty-seven authors, two recipes, and two articles.
And the latest news from Courtney Milan, a fan of whom broke this story, is that two people claiming to be ghostwriters for Serruya contacted her to say that the author gave them scenes and told them to make a book out of them.
One of the commenters added that the scenes were likely plagiarized ... and that Serruya never paid for the services.
You can read more on that in this Twitter thread.
