One can make generalizations about which point of view to use in fiction, based on genre alone.

But C.S. Lakin reminds us that the question of what will best tell the story should reign supreme.

If that choice is third person (versus first person), then you’ll need to decide whether to use objective omniscient third person or subjective omniscient third person.
