In spite of our glee over hearty soups, pumpkin-flavored everything, and bookish Halloween costumes, we know that this time of year is not exactly everyone’s favorite — especially if the seasons and lack of light affect your mental health.

So it seemed timely to share a post from Joanna Penn’s archives that spent a fair amount of time on anxiety and writing.

Author Lisa M. Lilly and Joanna Penn begin with a conversation about writing as a second career, then segue into handling anxiety so you can still write and even redirecting it so that it helps your creativity.

You can read their discussion or listen to it on The Creative Penn, and Lilly also has an entire book on the topic, called Happiness, Anxiety, and Writing: Using Your Creativity to Live a Calmer Happier Life.
