Confession: We’ve at least once rephrased a social media post, out of fear we’d mix up “uninterested” and “disinterested.”
Yes, we could’ve consulted a dictionary; now, though, we’ve been officially taught by Grammar Girl.
An uninterested person would be unconcerned with our linguistic error; a disinterested person would simply have no stake in the accuracy of our language use.
