Most of us have declared we’re going to manage our time better, and many of those people have even taken steps to achieve that goal.

Katie Forrest, the author of Time Management for Writers, wants to help you number yourself among that latter group.

In a guest post at The Creative Penn, she suggests starting with a time log — actually recording how you spend your time — for at least a week.

Then you need to consider what your endgame is. That is, what do you hope to accomplish with your greater efficiency?

Once you know where your time is actually being spent and where you wish it were being spent, you can put Forrest’s nine time-management tips for writers into play.
