Journalist and writer Amitava Kumar, years ago, began asking authors he met at events to sign copies of their books with a single piece of valuable advice.
He has shared images of said advice, from authors including Tommy Orange and Zadie Smith, with the New York Times.
(And for those who struggle to read handwriting, the NY Times has graciously typed the advice.)
