Some of the bad actors that Writer Beware reports on choose names similar to legitimate companies’, in hopes of luring in unwary authors.

The topic of today’s post isn’t doing that, exactly — but its connection to another well-established product may be yielding the same result.

Victoria Strauss has been receiving a number of questions about reading/writing platforms or apps in the past year, and one of the newest ones is Fictum, which is owned by the parent company of TikTok.
