All successful fiction has a single feature in common: it keeps its readers invested.
And it does so by using eight main “engagers,” albeit in varying proportions and combinations.
They are, according to Stefan Emunds: empathy, curiosity, tension, inspiration and motivation, sense of wonder and beauty, emotional thrill, excitement, satisfaction, and feelings.
