Today is We Love Memoirs Day, so it seemed like the perfect time to share Joanna Penn’s recent podcast episode that focused on writing about trauma.
Penn and her guest, author David Chrisinger, establish a working definition for trauma before discussing how to write about it in an emotionally productive and safe way.
They also address common areas of concern with memoirs, including how factual they can really be and how to handle others’ reactions to the writing.
You can listen to the episode on writing about trauma at The Creative Penn, which also includes a transcript of the conversation.
