Those of us who own pets (or are owned by them) have certainly wondered at least once, if not more often, what's going on in their heads.

And we've also assigned them personality traits ... and maybe even treat them like full-fledged family members.

So it stands to reason that some of us who also write would be curious about introducing animal characters into fiction.

Codi Schneider, author of Cold Snap: A Viking Cat Mystery, certainly falls into that category (no pun intended).

And as it turns out, writing a book that stars a cat — told from the cat's point of view, even — was an illuminating experience.
