Being able to admit when you’ve made a mistake is a valuable skill for all humans — grammarians included.

Robert Lee Brewer, senior editor of Writer’s Digest, is here with a confession.

For years, he’s misunderstood 'til and till (and, truth be told, so have we).

It turns out that till as the abbreviation for until is actually correct and predates the incorrect ’til.

So unless you’re a poet or songwriter, Brewer suggests sticking with till or until.
