Wouldn't it be great for sales – and confidence — if everyone wanted your book, no matter what their typical reading preferences were?

Sure ... if they all flocked to your book without your lifting a finger.

But that's not reality.

In reality, you as the author will have to spread the word about your book, and being able to narrow down your target readers from the pool of all readers will actually make it easier.
