The big news in the indie-publishing world last week was Draft2Digital's plan to acquire Smashwords.

And in some of the coverage, Joanna Penn was quoted as feeling optimistic about the deal's benefits for self-published authors.

So unsurprisingly, she invited Smashwords CEO Mark Coker and D2D Director of Marketing and Public Relations Kevin Tumlinson to appear on her podcast.

Penn, Coker, and Tumlinson talk in-depth about how the acquisition came about, what the new combined company will offer, and what they hope to do in the future for authors, in the most recent episode of The Creative Penn podcast (available as text and audio on Penn's website).
