It can be fun, as an author, to play with different narrative forms throughout your novel.
By that, we mean incorporating (real or fictional) newspaper articles, letters, diary entries, audio communications and more.
But as writer Sophie Masson observes, these creative tricks should be used strategically so that they contribute something besides novelty to your work.
