Your mileage likely varies on how useful process blogs are to you.

That is, Julia Whelan's recounting of beginning, struggling, finally wrapping up, and revising her novel may or may not provide practical advice for you.

What we thought would be broadly appreciated, though, is the general observation she made about her specific decisions: "Sometimes we are responsible for creating the 'rules' that hobble us."

And for Whelan, that meant realizing that she didn't have to write the book in the order that anyone would read it.
