Sometimes the Alliance of Independent Authors has an uplifting news roundup.

This latest one really isn't.

Two of the main articles in Dan Holloway's collection are about costly challenges facing indie authors.

One focuses on Amazon's ebook return policy and how authors have signed a petition seeking a change to it, after BookTok users shared how to take advantage of the system.

After all, the book delivery fee comes out of the author's pocket and isn't refunded when the book is returned.

The second item that isn't great, but also isn't worth ignoring, is a calculation of how much book piracy costs publishers.

Along those lines — if your print book has been pirated, ALLi has advice for you.
