Fantasy author Brandon Sanderson's Kickstarter closed a few weeks ago, with over $41.7 million brought in.

What hasn't ended, though, is the window of opportunity it has opened for all independent writers, says Kristine Kathryn Rusch.

(The complaints, criticism, and jealousy are also still there, of course, but Rusch has already said her piece on that matter.)
