Writer Beware shares a collection of bait-and-switch scams

The details of recent scam attempts on Writer Beware's radar might be different, but the general setup is the same.

They're all bait-and-switch scams, in which the creative person (writer, illustrator, translator) is offered an opportunity or promised a service that, at first, doesn't have a fee.

But then solicitations — money, personal information, or work — pop up, and if you provide what's sought, your contact person disappears.
