When Amazon announced the changes to its ebook return policy, many minds likely turned to the audiobook world.

After all, Audiblegate was capturing shocked attention before the TikTok return "hack" was.

The Alliance of Independent Authors doesn't have much comfort to offer in that regard, however.

Audiobooks returned within 365 days of the date of purchase — if bought with a debit or credit card, not an Audible credit — won't be eligible for full refunds, according to ALLi.

However, the restriction to card purchases and exclusion of Audible credits has left the Audiblegate movement rather disappointed.

ALLi quotes Susan May, one of the most prominent names calling for changes to Audible's terms, as pointing out that the majority of Audible purchases are done by Audible credits, not bank cards — so the change is unlikely to make a significant difference.
