Don't get author and editor Dave King wrong — he's fine with retiring storytelling techniques that don't work well.

But he doesn't think that's an accurate description of prologues, despite the move away from them that he's noticed.

In a post for Writer Unboxed, King discusses what a prologue can contribute to a book and invites authors to share their theories on why they've fallen out of favor in the comments.
