Author Kerri Schlottman hears point of view and perspective used interchangeably when discussing literary techniques.

She corrects that misconception in a post for Writer's Digest that also explores the interplay of point of view and perspective in fiction.

What we also thought was neat (and succinct) in the post, though, was the advice she shared from Rebecca Makkai: to find the "ear of the story."

In other words, authors should consider who they're telling the story for, in order to guide their choices on perspective and point of view.
