The publishing experts we follow have plenty of business and marketing advice to offer.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • Book publishing's bilingual boom: If current trends hold, the United States will be the second-largest Spanish-speaking country in just a few decades, says Ed Nawotka, so it's worth keeping an eye on trends in bilingual publishing, which has already seen significant growth (Publishers Weekly).

  • Business musings on AI, copyright, and writers: A recent NPR segment discussed a climate-change TV show that focuses not on the end (er, end-of-days) but rather the "messy middle" of a trend, and that's exactly what the creative world is in right now when it comes to the most efficient and most ethical use of artificial intelligence, says Kris Rusch.

  • The reality of pitching a book for film rights: Many authors ask Penny Sansevieri of Author Marketing Experts about how to sell the screen rights to their book; she refers them (and you) to a post from Anne R. Allen that debunks the myths (Anne R. Allen's Blog... with Ruth Harris).

  • The four pillars of book marketing: It's easy to get caught up in the finer details of book marketing — such as, which newsletters, social media platforms, and advertising sites to use — but it might be more calming and effective to focus on the four big-picture goals instead (Jane Friedman).
