Two posts in our RSS feeder this morning centered on advice for younger (or even beginning) writers.

One, from author Luke Lovelady, is what you might expect with an introduction like the above one — it's five things he wishes he'd known before writing his first novel (up on C.S. Lakin's Live Write Thrive blog).

The other is a little bit of the opposite, in a way.

Author Jan O'Hara found herself reflecting on the desire of many writers — her past self included — to find a writing god to follow.

Her post at Writer Unboxed discusses some of the pitfalls she encountered during the years she eagerly (too eagerly?) followed instructions that didn't work for her.
