The publishing experts we follow have plenty of advice on mindset, attitude, and self-care to offer.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • Notes of hope: Author Juliet Marillier was reminded by a song that art is absolutely necessary in challenging times, because it pushes us to keep going (Writer Unboxed).

  • Loneliness, love, and literature: David Corbett explores how learning from others' experience and suffering — and sharing one's own — creates connection and solidarity (Writer Unboxed).

  • In it for the long haul: Dave King discusses ways in which struggling writers can find support and recognize that they're practicing their craft, even if it's not in the way they had hoped (Writer Unboxed).

  • The happy writer: Joanna Penn and novelist Marissa Meyer talk about, among other topics, how to take joy and find happiness in a writing practice that's also a business (The Creative Penn).
