The publishing experts we follow have plenty of craft and process advice to offer.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • That which we call a crumpleweed: Kristin Hacken South explains which sounds, to English speakers, have which connotations, to assist writers inventing – or even selecting existing — names and words (Writer Unboxed).

  • Sometimes it is about the research: Christina Larocco describes how she was able to read between the lines, so to speak, in examining the physical papers left behind by a historical figure she was researching (Jane Friedman).

  • The biggest memoir mistake: Writing coach and author Lisa Cooper Ellison helps you diagnose and prevent having too much backstory, which will derail your memoir (Jane Friedman).
