The publishing experts we follow have plenty of advice and news to offer, spanning a variety of topics.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • No twists for twists' sake: Author and book coach Kathleen Barber describes how to prepare the clues that readers will belatedly realize explains your novel's surprise ending (Jane Friedman).

  • Continuity in the passage of time: C.S. Lakin helps you make sure your reader doesn't get confused about when an event in your novel took place (Live Write Thrive).

  • AI wrote a story, and people have feelings: Dan Holloway shares a few of the reactions from the literary world to the latest — and supposedly greatest — artificial intelligence generated fiction (Alliance of Independent Authors).

  • AI search engines cite incorrect news sources at an alarming rate: A new study from Columbia Journalism Review's Tow Center for Digital Journalism found that generative AI cites the wrong sources more than 60 percent of the time  (Ars Technica).
