The publishing experts we follow have plenty of advice to offer, spanning a variety of topics.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • How to use writing prompts to "unstick" writer's block: Savannah Cordova identifies a few reasons why writers struggle to get anything onto the page, and then provides targeted prompts to help break through (Writers Helping Writers).

  • How I trademarked my name: Author Teri Case was horrified by the use of well-known authors' names on AI-generated slop books — and the difficulties those authors had in fighting back — so she trademarked her own name and explains how she did it (Jane Friedman).

  • AI translation sparks backlash: Dan Holloway covers a publishing giant's decision to have artificial intelligence translate research, plus two other AI updates (Alliance of Independent Authors).

  • Are you ready for traditional publication?: Author and creative writing instructor Milo Todd poses questions to ask about yourself, not your book, if you're seeking or considering seeking traditional publication (Writer Unboxed).
