The publishing experts we follow have plenty of craft and creative process advice to offer.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • Writing subtext in horror fiction: Lindy Ryan lists five strategies to make your reader feel terror even when there isn't something obviously horrifying on the page (Jane Friedman).

  • Dispatches from the jury box: Sarah Callender reflects on the storytelling lessons she took from or were reinforced during her time on a jury (Writer Unboxed).

  • Three hidden reasons writers procrastinate: Colleen M. Story wants to let you off the hook — you aren't lazy or undisciplined — and understand why you're delaying so that you can change it (Writers Helping Writers).
