It can be hard to keep on top of all the blogs and news sources that aim to help writers.

So here’s a roundup of posts from the Alliance of Independent Authors that authors might find valuable — but also might've missed earlier — all in one place.

  • Sarah J. Maas signs licensing deal: Dan Holloway emphasizes that the A Court of Thorns and Roses author — and not a publisher — is the one who will profit off of a comprehensive licensing agreement; he also covers this and other publishing developments in greater detail in an episode of the news podcast.

  • Translators push back against Globescribe: Holloway reminds authors that while the latest high-profile artificial intelligence tool focuses on translators, it serves all creatives well to be wary.

  • Radish to shut down by the end of the year: Holloway notes that Radish, a long-running but little-covered (by him) serialized fiction platform, will close by the end of 2025.

  • Member Q&A podcast: Michael La Ronn and Sacha Black cover a variety of questions, including how to find the right developmental editor, whether to create a series wiki for your books, whether to release all editions of your book simultaneously, how long a designer should take on your cover, and plenty more.
