When you create a character, you’ve likely formed a picture of him or her in addition to coming up with a personality.

Author Zara Altair suggests, however, keeping the specifics of that physical image to yourself.

Instead, she says, provide broad hints to how the character looks and let the reader fill in the rest.

Altair suggests a few strategies for this type of description on her Write Time blog.
