David Gaughran alerted us to Amazon’s new feature for US-based authors: Kindle Vella.
Vella is for stories told one episode at a time, and according to Amazon’s info page on it, the stories will be available to readers “in the next few months” in the Kindle iOS app and on Amazon.com.
Readers will start the story for free, then use tokens to unlock future episodes.
Authors will, according to Amazon, earn 50 percent of what’s spent on tokens that unlock episodes of their stories, but, as Gaughran points out in his tweet, there isn’t further detail on the token system.
Here’s the available information on Kindle Vella. And in the meantime, Fussy is considering the best way to offer such stories in its newsletters.
