Not to be alarmist, but choosing the wrong categories for your book (or any product) on Amazon can have a fairly bad ripple effect.

The more it’s recommended to people who aren’t interested in it, the more Amazon thinks no one wants to buy it — and thus the less it suggests your book to readers.

David Gaughan mentions this as a reminder to take the Amazon category selection seriously and to keep it on your regular-maintenance list.
