At one point in your life or another, you've become aware that someone is watching you — and felt self-conscious, anxious, or another form of tension because of that.

And if you’re an author, that’s actually great news, because while many of us don’t care for real-life tension, the fictional stuff makes for great reading.

Author Kathryn Craft shares several examples of watchers in fiction — some of them real-life humans; others, inanimate objects or even intangible ones — and how these watchers increase the tension in a scene in a post for Writer Unboxed.
