By now, you’ve heard that audio giant Spotify has struck a deal to purchase Findaway.
You might be wondering what that means for you as an author — or whether it means anything at all.
Dan Holloway of the Alliance of Independent Authors says the answer to the latter is definitely, if it receives regulatory approval (which was once a given but may not be).
As for the former, he says, we’ll have to wait and see; Spotify’s immediate post-deal plans are to leave Findaway’s team in place.
But that’s just a first step, and if you’ve followed the music industry in much detail, you know that Spotify payouts have drawn some criticism.
