Many of us tend to be running on empty as December comes to an end, even in more normal and less chaotic years.

So it’s important to recognize how much the outside world is draining us — and to, at the same time, focus on the positives.

Writer Unboxed recently shared two different posts on hope, to help authors make it through the end-of-year slog.

Kathryn Craft found a copy of an inspiring email she wrote to a struggling writer and posted it; Kelsey Allagood mused about how art can serve as a lifeline for both its creators and its admirers.
