The attitude you take toward drafts of a book might be the same one you used in school – rough draft, final draft, and something in between.
Yuvi Zalkow didn't necessarily follow that specific pattern, but he did realize at some point that his revision process lacked direction.
Since then, he's developed a habit of trying to set a goal or purpose for each draft.
It's not a hard-and-fast rule, but more of a guideline, and he explains that in a video for Writer Unboxed.
