Setting can play a huge role in any fictional scene.
But Carla Hoch raises a good point about its power in fight scenes — your strategy and your chances of winning depend largely on it.
(Her example: Your answer to the question of, would you rather fight a shark or a gorilla, would change dramatically if it took place on land versus water.)
In fact, the site of the fight is more important than the combatants, Hoch says.
So when writing a fight scene, you need to consider many elements of the physical place.
