Two of our go-to writing advice sources had variations on a particular theme recently.

That theme: lessons that authors can take from Hollywood.

Writer’s Digest took the direct route, with a TV and movie viewing guide for thriller authors (from a bestselling writer, who does caution that his post contains spoilers).

Writer Unboxed went a little more figurative with its pop culture advice.

There, author Jan O’Hara extrapolated several writing lessons from Will Smith's slap of Chris Rock at the Oscars.
